Viva Volunteering! A Fantastic Morning of Community Spirit

Our Viva Volunteering coffee morning on Saturday, 28th February was an overwhelming success. We are very grateful to The Western Hotel for hosting us with such generosity and warmth, as always. Their welcoming space, great atmosphere, and kindness helped make the event truly special.

We were all ready to go at 11am. Imagine our delight and (and astonishment!) when far more people turned up and signed up than we’d expected. From the moment doors opened, a steady trickle of energetic and curious visitors started arriving. All had a genuine sense of community support for the Edward Hain Centre’s expanding work in health and wellbeing.

Thanks to the brilliant volunteers who are already part of the EHC team, free coffee and biscuits flowed. Visitors chatted with volunteers, our director Sharron, community volunteering lead, Claire, and community hub officer, Nadine. They picked up leaflets, and heard inspiring stories from current volunteers who generously shared what volunteering means to them. Reminding us exactly why community participation matters so much.

Visitors also had a chance to explore the many ways to get involved. These include Meet & Greet roles, event support, helping with our Elderly Visitors’ afternoons, joining fundraising efforts, or assisting with our Home‑Ed Kids’ Social Hub. It was wonderful to see people discovering opportunities that suited their interests, skills, and availability.

Most importantly, the morning was filled with smiles, conversations, and new connections. The sense of support in the room was truly uplifting, proof that the Edward Hain Centre is surrounded by a community that cares deeply about its future.

To everyone who attended, spread the word, or signed up, thank you. And to The Western Hotel, thank you again for being the perfect hosts.

If you missed this one, don’t worry, there will be more chances to get involved. Stay tuned… and Viva Volunteering!
