Open weekend, Afternoon Tea and Ball Bonanza
As usual, our community rocks! Starting with our Open Weekend launch, then Afternoon Tea at the Carbis Bay Hotel, and our Celebration Ball at Tregenna Castle, we raised the fabulous sum of £13,500! (Please note that figures are approximate but close. Exact figures tba…)
First, at the launch, the combination of tea/coffee/cake donations, other donations, and sales of donated paintings, pottery, jewellery, and the odd teddy bear, raised over £6,800. THANK YOU to all who baked, gave, ate, drank, serenaded us on the Sunday with their great music, and the many Friends, Trustees and volunteers who bust a gut making it all go with a bang!
Next, 2 days later, the Carbis Bay Hotel put on a fabulous teatime spread that included a glass of bubbly on arrival and a huge array of sandwiches and cakes. The accompaniment of their resident pianist added to the afternoon’s enjoyment, as did the sunshine and beautiful views across the bay – which some braved the cool air to enjoy sitting outside.
EHC Trustee Elizabeth Veal did a great job selling tickets for the raffle, with prizes donated by the hotel as well as others, topping up the total to over £1,000. THANK YOU to the Carbis Bay Hotel for their generosity – and to all who came to support the cause. Who’d have thought that noshing on teatime treats could have such a positive effect on our fundraising?!
The last (but not least) of these events was last Friday’s ball at Tregenna, whose net sum of £5780 brings the grand total to more than £13,500! Check back for a post about that tomorrow…
