Sir Edward Bolitho

We have a Patron!

We are incredibly excited and honoured to share the news that His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall, Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho KCVO OBE, is now officially Patron of the Edward Hain Centre.

Sir Edward attended our open weekend celebration in 2023, since when he has continued to take an interest in our progress. He has visited the Centre in a casual capacity 3 times — the last time being just a few weeks ago.

For those interested in History, there’s a historical connection between the Bolitho and Hain families which goes back at least to 1878: the Bolithos were early shareholders in the Hain Shipping line— and the very first Hain steamship was named Trewidden, in honour of the Bolitho estate.

This gives the Lord-Lieutenant’s patronage a wonderfully poignant historical resonance, as well as being a great honour. It feels like something has come full circle in a lovely, meaningful way!
