Two New Autumn Volunteering Rôles

Helping hands needed at the Centre in 2 particular areas

Volunteering is a terrific way to make connections with new people while giving back to your community – and we are currently looking to fill two specific volunteering rôles on-site at the Edward Hain Centre: Reception/meet & greet; and dementia support groups / activity sessions.

A brief description of each is given below. If you’re willing to commit to 2-4 hours a week in either rôle, we would love to hear from you! You’ll find a full description of both in the PDF at the bottom of the page. Just click the button beneath the PDF window to download.

We look forward to welcoming some new faces to our team!

1. Reception and Meet & Greet

This volunteering rôle includes greeting visitors, directing course participants and/or clinic clients to their classes, courses or relevant space, and helping keep the reception space tidy, amongst other duties.

As well as older volunteers who now find time they’d like to fill with meaningful work, this role would also be a particular advantage to College leavers or those between employment positions who are looking to gain experience and references for their CVs.

2. Dementia Support Groups and/or Activity sessions

We currently run groups for several care homes in the area which include crafting, movement and singalong sessions. We also run sessions whose activities are specifically tailored for those with dementia.

All our older visitors are accompanied by their carers. Volunteers will receive awareness training for this rôle to help build confidence in providing friendly conversation for those with dementia.

Interested in either or both? To find out more, download the PDF below by clicking the black ‘download’ button.

Once you’ve had a read-through, please email our Community Hub Officer, Claire Jefferies, with the subject ‘Volunteering’. Let her know which volunteering opportunity interests you, and she will get back to you to discuss being added to our team.

THANK YOU! We look forward to hearing from you .
