Seeking New Trustees

We are always interested in interested candidates!

In 2024, the Edward Hain Centre recruited two new trustees who bring their legal and property management skills to the board. One has been promoted in her job so sadly cannot continue. We have others coming on board soon, but are always interested to hear from others with specific expertise to add to and strengthen our team.

Our departing member, whose expertise was in rural property development, will continue in an advisory capacity. Nevertheless, if you are local and happen to have such expertise, we would be happy to hear from

If you have a passion for local community, and are committed to changing lives for the better, you could be the next person to join us in this exciting stage of the organisation’s development!

By joining our Board of Trustees, you will help ensure that the Centre pursues its stated charitable objectives, and that operational plans and budgets support our vision and goals. Put differently, your input will help shape the future of Health & Wellbeing in St. Ives.

Specific skills needed

We are especially looking for people who can strengthen our Board with knowledge and experience in any of the following areas:

  • Financial Management/Business Accounting/Budget setting; and/or fundraising to individuals
  • Charity Governance: Experience of leading or managing charities at a senior level
  • Strategic Development: The experience to help us build a portfolios of plans, feasibility studies and other documentation in order to reach the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) standard required for large capital grant applications
  • An understanding of the local community and business sector in order to build our supportive network.

Ideally, we are looking for people with experience of working collaboratively with partners at board level, as well as experience of leading an organisation as a member of a management board, committee, or senior management team. However, this is not a requirement.

Being a Trustee of the Edward Hain Centre

This is a voluntary role, for which we would prefer applicants who are local, or have a local connection. If you live at a distance, you can attend meetings via Teams: several of our board members do. Please note, however, that at some point of our anticipated growth, in-person attendance for some roles will be necessary.

For general information on what’s involved in being a trustee, please see the Charity Commission website, https://www.gov.uk/guidance/charity-trustee-whats-involved.

We have a current window of application that closes on April 18th, 2025 (which happens to be Good Friday, so an easy day to remember!) Review of applications will be ongoing, with interviews arranged on a rolling basis until the positions are filled.
