November 21st & 22nd, 2025
On November 21st and 22nd, the ninth St Ives Shanty Shout took over the town. The festival was in fact in its 10th year – but no Shout happened in 2020 due to Covid.
Since it began, the 2-day Shanty Shout festival has raised money for charity. In 2023, the year the Edward Hain Centre opened, to our very good fortune, we were chosen to be their charity partner. Funds raised from donations given by generous Shanty Shout attendees at each of the various venues are passed on to the Centre to help with our running costs. This is a huge help to us.
More than 20 volunteers joined Charity Supporters Supreme, Betty ‘The Cornish Maid ‘ Stoggs, (aka Fred), and Pilchard the Pirate (aka Jason Wilkinson) in wielding donation buckets – in Edward Hain purple, of course. On Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday night, they collected an astounding £4,617.91 in aid of the Centre.
A resounding success
Shanty singers came from all over the UK to take part in the always-fabulous St Ives Shout. We are so grateful for all the singers, venues and volunteers, as well as the incredible hard work of everyone on the Shanty Shout committee and EHC Staff (and a couple of their husbands!) who all went above and beyond in the organisation to make this such an enjoyable for everyone. The crowds’ generosity was extraordinary. Thank you all.
Onward to 2026!
