EHC Feast Day Coffee Morning: Report and Thank-Yous!

Once again, we celebrated the joy and tradition of Feast Day with one of our most cherished annual gatherings: the Edward Hain Centre Feast Day Coffee Morning. This special event has become a firm fixture in the Feast Day celebrations: an opportunity for local residents, supporters, and friends old and new to come together.

The weather was atrocious, with rain chucking down throughout the morning. Nevertheless, between 10:00 and 12:30, community members gathered in the welcoming warmth of the Western Hotel, who so generously host the event each year. The colourful crowd did us proud: between food & drink, raffle and donations, we raised over £400 for the EHC!

A Feast Day first was the music provided by our lovely trustee Claire and her husband Kev, better known as Spaven Mor. We heard so many comments about the wonderful atmosphere their playing created. Then about halfway through the morning the mayoral party arrived along with the Feast Day band, whose music added another level of jollity to the celebrations. Thank you all!

We owe thanks to so many people! Bakers of home-made goodies, donors of raffle prizes, our tireless volunteers. . . . The generosity of everyone who came, and those who helped out, is a wonderful example of the true spirit of St Ives.

🧡 Homemade Cakes & Bakes:

Our wonderful community bakers donated a delicious selection of cakes and homemade treats: brownies, buns, drizzle cake, walnut coffee cake. . . Where do we stop? The list goes on and on! Many thanks to every one of you who responded so generously to our Cake Call-Out, and provided such a rich and yummy feast for Feast Day – a spread of true works of art and deliciousness. You’re the best! 🙏🏽

🧡 Raffle & Tombola:

Thanks to the kindness of local business supporters, our raffle and tombola were once again a highlight. We’re so grateful for the generosity shown this year. Every ticket purchased helps raise essential funds for the Centre and sends lucky winners home with fabulous prizes. Sailflags Penzance (who also made our lovely new sail flags and banner, which you’ll have seen at the Western’s entrance); The Cornish Deli, St Ives Brewery, Harvey Brothers Butchers, R&J Supplies, and Cornish Bakehouse. . . Thank you all 🙏🏽

🧡 Volunteers:

We can’t say enough about how amazing you are. From helping with set up, to manning the cake tables, raffle and information desk with friendly Feast Day smiles, to pitching in with the clear up – you’re the heartbeat of our events! 🙏🏽

🧡 EHC Team

A big thank-you to all the EHC team members, who more than pulled their weight in the lead-up.
🔹 A special shout-out to Kerrie for collecting cakes over the weekend and holding the fort at the Centre on Monday while the Feast played on.
🔹 Thank you to Mark for helping load tables and cakes, and supporting set up.
🔹 Last but not least, to Nadine, who organised the event for the first time, and did a stellar job – especially as a brand-new EHC team member!

Bravo to all of you.

Feast Day has always been a time when the town unites in pride and shared heritage. Our coffee morning is no exception. Over the years, it has grown into a warm, bustling gathering filled with conversation, homemade treats, and heartfelt community support.

The purpose of the Coffee Morning remains simple but deeply meaningful:

  • To celebrate Feast Day together over coffee, cakes, raffles, and friendly conversation
  • To raise awareness of the Edward Hain Centre’s work, including our health, wellbeing, and community programmes
  • To generate vital funds that help us continue supporting the people of St Ives through our services.

We’re continually humbled by the generosity shown each Feast Day. The contributions received from cakes, raffle and donations are invaluable in directly supporting our operational costs and programmes. This allows the Centre to continue being a vital hub for community health, wellbeing, and connection in St Ives, and make a real difference in people’s lives.

Our Feast Day Coffee Morning is a celebration of everything that makes this such a tight‑knit and caring community. Whether you come for a slice of cake, a friendly chat, or to try your luck in the raffle – or any and all of the above! – your presence makes this event truly special. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
