Gunners Kids at the EHC

Free, monthly drop-in sessions for families affected by terminal illness.

Gunners Kids CIC is a Cornish non-profit supporting families with children facing the terminal illness of a parent or caregiver. Family members can talk in a safe and confidential setting to trained volunteers, who provide them with the tools and guidance they need to make the most of their remaining time together.

Already active in Launceston and St. Austell, Gunners Kids is now launching monthly sessions in St. Ives, at the Edward Hain Centre. These sessions are on the 3rd Tuesday of every month, from 2-4PM.

All are welcome. Refreshments are provided, and there’s no sign-up needed: just drop in.

The Edward Hain Centre is at Albany Terrace, St. Ives, TR26 2BS (Click for map.) Drop-off is at the front of the building, and you can park in our car park on Belyars Lane, just off Talland Road on the left.

How Gunners Kids Began

Gunners Kids CIC was founded by Tamsin Chapman-Gunner in memory of her husband, Chris, who passed from cancer in April, 2024. Having found no help for herself and their three children at this challenging time, she wanted to help others in similar straits.

As a lovely tribute to Chris, Tamsin credits him as her co-founder of the organisation.

Here to Help

Many thanks to Leisa Farrar of HappyHomeCornwall, who is Gunners Kids’ outreach worker for West Cornwall, for reaching out to us. We hope that those in our community who are facing such loss will find solace in these sessions.

Gunners Kids is here to help.

To other organisations needing space for gatherings related to health and wellbeing: we may well be able to provide it for you, too, free of charge. Please contact the EHC’s manager Sharron Goldingay at centremanager@edwardhaincentre.org.uk to enquire.

We are here to help.
