Volunteer With Us!

As our Centre’s activities increase, so does our need for volunteers. Whether you’re curious about volunteering, or ready to sign up, you’re in the right place! We welcome any help with a range of activities to suit all tastes and types. Scroll down to find out about our various ongoing volunteer opportunities.

For all other volunteering rôles (see below) email Claire at clairej@edwardhaincentre.co.uk with the subject ‘Volunteering’, and tell us your preferences, availability, and experience, if any. Experience is not required, however: Anyone new to volunteering is also very welcome!

To meet a few of our team— some of whom have been with us since 2023 – read about the projects they’ve worked on in these 3 posts: Our Volunteers, part 1; Our Volunteers, part 2; and Our Volunteers, part 3.

This is office-based, and can involve welcoming visitors, and directing course participants and/or clinic clients to their classes, courses or relevant space.

Also, assist at our elderly visitors’ afternoons with games, singalongs, puzzles – or just a lovely chat.

Community Ambassador

In this role you will help out within our ongoing classes and workshops, whether it’s to preparing refreshments for participants, playing games with them (e.g. for our Care Home attendees or Hain Home Ed Hub) or bringing some particular expertise, depending on what the class or workshop is.

Events Team

Events can either refer to:

🔸 One or two-hour workshops at the Centre that need setting up with chairs, tables, etc, and helping with clear-up afterwards; or

🔸 Longer celebratory events like our annual Birthday event (at the EHC) and Feast Day Coffee morning (at the Western). Includes any or all of: helping plan and prepare; decorating the Centre, procuring refreshments, and being generally indispensible!

Outdoor Clearing and general handyman/woman/ jobs

For those with hammer, spanner, screwdriver skills, occasional help, both indoors and out, is very welcome!

We also run occasional fun group-cleaning days, like our ‘Big Dig’ clear-up of the previously overgrown walled garden. We post about these on our Facebook Page – so if you don’t already follow us there, please do! (click the pink Facebook Page link) Read about our latest one HERE.

Grant Funding Champion

If you love a challenge, join our team of Grant Funding Champions! Mainly for smaller grant applications, whether for core costs or specific projects. Choose what kind of grants you’d like to work on depending to your interests.

The group is run by Samantha Peters, who procured 2025’s fabulous Lottery Fund grant. You will work one-on-one with Samantha for any grants you choose. There’s also a monthly Zoom catch-up for the whole group. (Not required – just when you’re able to!)

If interested, or for more info, please email clairej@edwardhaincentre.org.uk
