Weekly social activities; Tuesday afternoons, 1-3pm during term times.
Are you a parent who’s home-educating your child or children? Would you like to engage them in social activities with other home-ed kids? We have it covered with our Hain Home-Ed Hub!
The Hain Home-Ed Hub meets every Tuesday afternoon at the Edward Hain Centre during term times between 1 and 3pm. Specific activities will be planned every week. These include: arts & crafts, board games, computer classes (taught by our regular IT course instructor, Chris Bevington), and cookery.
The cookery class, in the St Ives Foodbank‘s lovely recently-renovated kitchens, will round off with an end-of-session community meal in collaboration with the Foodbank. (Menu will be shared in advance on our Facebook page when possible.)
The Hub is open to all home-educated children and their homeschooling parent(s). Attendance is free. Come as and when you and your child(ren) choose, for the activities that interest them – either every week, or just one or two per month.

How it works
These are ‘stay and play’ sessions, so although the social activities are volunteer led, parents must stay with their kids. They will, however, be able to enjoy their own social time with the other parents over a cuppa and a chat.
The Hain Home-Ed Hub – named by the parents who conceived of the idea and will run it – is an exciting venture for us. If it’s a fit for you and your family, we’d love to see you!
Booking
Any parents wanting to book a place for their child(ren), please email us at community.volunteering@edwardhaincentre.org.uk and include the following information:
- Your name
- Whether you are attending in a volunteering capacity
- The names of your child/children
- Telephone number
- And, for community meal days (every 4th Tuesday of the month), whether you wish to request a community meal before the session between 11.30am&1pm
Please note, there is a limit of 10 children (including those attending with volunteers), so booking early is recommended.
There’s no limit on the number of adults attending.
Due to the limited number of spaces only one week’s session can be booked at a time. This is to ensure it is fair for all (this will however not apply to the lead volunteer).
Again, the email address to sign up at is: community.volunteering@edwardhaincentre.org
