Women practicing yoga w/resistance bands

Yoga for Bone Health

Taught by Justine Smith, Yoga for Bone Health focuses on the importance of building strong bones with balance and strengthening poses, especially as we age. This is a popular class, so booking is essential. (See below).

Please note that Justine will be away for some of the dates of the course. Upon booking full dates and details of the sessions will provided.

Stop Press: This class is now FULL. You may email to be added to the waiting list, and will be given a place if anyone drops out – or be prioritised for the next course. Thank you for your understanding.

Using resistance bands and adapted yoga poses, Justine will guide you to
🔸 greater body awareness
🔸 increase muscular strength to help with stability and decrease fracture risk
🔸 avoid falls through balance challenges and proprioceptive stimulus

She will also look at other factors that affect bone density such as diet and getting enough rest — But don’t panic, you will still get savasana at the end of the class! (That is, a lovely, relaxed lie-down, which helps you absorb what you’ve learned.)

These classes are always well subscribed – so be sure to sign up sooner than later. To book, email info@edwardhaincentre.org.uk with the subject ‘Yoga – Healthy Bones’

PLEASE NOTE: We have a new booking policy for our free yoga classes. Please read it HERE. Thank you!

Evidence shows that at least 50% of women and 1 in 5 men over the age of 50 will have low bone density. Most are unaware of this and may remain unaffected; but without safe practices, they are more prone to fracture and complications which can seriously affect longevity and quality of life.

Justine Smith has been teaching yoga at the Centre for over two years. As well as being a yoga teacher with a wealth of experience, Justine is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner who after 30 years still works one day a week with the NHS. She is also a Reiki master.

When not on a yoga mat or meditation cushion, Justine loves spending time with her family and gorgeous but naughty pup, walking, cooking and crafting.
