Are you looking for something new in your life, a way to ‘give back’ by contributing to a meaningful community project? The Edward Hain Centre is embarking on an exciting new phase of expansion. To share our growing palette of health and wellbeing activities, and the ways you can help, we’re hosting a special ‘Viva Volunteering‘ coffee morning.
📍When: Saturday, February 28th from 11am to 1pm
📍Where: The Western Hotel, St Ives
📍What: Free coffee and cake
📍What else: Meet the Team; ask questions; pick up information leaflets; hear demonstrations from staff and volunteers; and get a feel for what we’re all about!
Why volunteer?
Volunteering is a fabulous way to meet people, make new connections, and become part of a genuine community effort. As our volunteer, Shirley S., says,
‘The best part of volunteering for me is meeting people from all walks of life… I really enjoy working with the people at Edward Hain who are a friendly bunch and very welcoming.’
It also brings proven benefit to health and wellbeing. In Shelley J’s words:
“As well as being very satisfying work, volunteering has been great for my mental health. Every single person I have met at the EHC has been supportive . . . It’s wonderful being part of this team.’
Or here’s Theresa L., who was a health aide at the former Edward Hain Hospital for 16 years, on helping with cleaning:
“The few hours I spend there go so fast and I come away with a buzz which is good for the soul.“
Find your flavour!
At the Western, our team of staff and volunteers will be on hand to tell you about our activities, old and new, for all ages from schoolchildren to older adults, and from individual to group projects. For example:
🔸Join our friendly Meet & Greet team to show people to their appointments or workshops
🔸Help at events – coffee mornings, celebrations, community meals, markets, the Shanty Shout
🔸Be part of a small team organising events
🔸Office support: filing, sorting, organising
🔸Help us keep the Centre clean and dust-free!
🔸Become a Community Group Ambassador, or a Fundraising Champion (We’ll explain on the day!)
🔸Games and activities at our Elderly Visitors’ afternoons
🔸Help with art, games, cookery and more at our Home Ed Kids’ Social Hub
